Anasha Tuga
I am writing this letter to express my 100% satisfaction with Anasha Boerboels and their top notch high quality breeding program, not only due to the beautiful well tempered puppy we received from them but also because of their sincere commitment, passion, and dedication to the Boerboel breed in general and overall amazing level of service and understanding they provide their customers that truly went well beyond all levels of expectation. With the utmost sincerity, I highly recommend Anasha Boerboels to anyone interested in purchasing a Boerboel puppy for the following reasons.

TugaAfter a couple months of researching different breeds, my wife and I decided in March of 2007, to purchase a Boerboel puppy. Upon researching and subsequently contacting many different Boerboel breeders, we were very confident that Shaun and Anne Ewing of Anasha Boerboels were the right choice. From this point, we've have never questioned this decision. As we eagerly awaited for Tuga, our Boerboel puppy's arrival, Shaun and Anne kept in constant contact with us which involved answering any and all questions we had regarding best practices of raising our puppy (we had tons of them) in addition to sending progress updates and pictures of the puppies. Already at this point, we could tell just how much they cared for their puppies and the overall quality of their breeding program. This was just the start. When it came to shipping our puppy, Shaun and Anne drove Tuga, our puppy, to an airport multiple hours out of the way so he would be able to fly directly from Denmark to Seattle without any lay over along the way, making the trip as easy as possible for Tuga. This goes to show just how much they care for the well being of their puppies. Not only is Tuga a beautiful healthy puppy, but he is also extremely loyal (a fundamental characteristic of the Boerboel breed), intelligent, self confident, and loving to all creatures that come his way. Tuga has been a sweet heart from the day we received him and this illustrates the time and energy that Anasha gives their puppies to make sure they receive the love needed to develop into confident self assured puppies who inherently trust and are comfortable with humans from day one. It also goes to show the success of their match matching abilities in placing the right temperaments with the right owners. The ask very good questions upfront so they can assess which puppies will fit best with the specific characteristics of home environments as well as the individual needs of their customers.

After having Tuga for a couple months and being relatively new to the Boerboel scene, we dccided to invest in some additional training. Unfortunately we ended up in the wrong hands in terms of a trainer and when we contacted Anasha to see what their thoughts were about our new trainer's methods, Shaun and Anne were concerned and offered to have Anne visit us in Seattle for a couple weeks to help develop my wife and I into the best Boerboel owners we could be for Tuga. Not only is Anne a great breeder but she's also an expert in Boerboels and a very experienced dog trainer. We jumped at this opportunity and having Anne visit not only helped us tremendously (meaning myself, my wife, and Tuga) in more ways than we could imagine but she was also a joy to have as a guest and a truly amazing person in general. Thank you Shaun as I'm sure it was lonely for those two weeks she was gone and Anne we truly miss you… J During Anne's trip, it was very evident just how deep her knowledge and love went for both Boerboels and dogs in general and we found her to be an amazingly real person with a fantastic passion for her Boerboel breeding program. In summary, the amount of time and energy both Shaun and Anne put into their breeding program makes the cost of their Boerboel puppies extremely reasonable. With all this said, I truly believe you cannot find a better Boerboel breeder anywhere in the world and when it comes time to purchase our second Boerboel puppy, it will be without a doubt from Shaun and Anne Ewing of Anasha Boerboels.

Anasha Bakkies

Habe selten so ehrliche Züchter getroffen.

Anasha Mufasa
Two dogs are playing on my living room floor as I write this; Mufasa, my 20 months old Boerboel, and Nikita, an 18 months old Labrador/Rottweiler mix who belongs to one of my neighbours. Mufasa is twice the size of Nikita, but he always lets her "win" their wrestling matches.
Mufasa came into my life in the autumn of 2002. I first saw him in a car full of puppies that Shaun Ewing was about to bring to Denmark from England.
Anasha MufasaThe puppies, whose parents were Esfa Mollie and Anasha Murphy, had been born in Wales, and Shaun stopped at Heathrow Airport to drop off three brothers destined for Norway. I flew there with one of the other buyers to fetch them, and it was three happy owners and three sleepy pups who were united at Oslo's Gardermoen Airport at 11 PM that night.
Since then, Mufasa has become a tall (72 cm) and lean Boerboel with massive paws and sleek muscles. Last time I weighed him, about 6 months ago, he weighed 65 kilos. He's undoubtedly heavier now, although I keep him on the lean side due to joint problems caused by an attack by another dog when he was just 9 weeks old. On the positive side, he's been x-rayed for HD and AD without any signs of problems.
Like the Rhodesian Ridgeback, the Boerboel is closely related to the African "Hottentot" dog (I think the breed is called "Africanis" now). Both breeds have inherited a cautious nature developed in an environsment where snakes, crockodiles, hyenas, lions and leopards are a constant threat. Mufasa was very timid the first 1 1/2 years of his life, and he showed some fear aggression. Listening to well-meant advice from people with dominant dogs, I first corrected him with a stern, loud voice and and abrupt tugging of the leash. This solved nothing and, realizing that fear aggression has nothing to do with dominance, I soon changed my tactics. Mild and gentle correction, with a soft-spoken but clear "no", gave the results that no shouting or heavy-handedness could have achieved, and Mufasa is now a much different dog than he was only a few months ago. I really cannot stress enough how important it is to handle a Boerboel with the same care that you would handle your own children!
Mufasa's love for his human and canine friends and family is limitless, and although he has a strong guarding instinct and doesn't want strangers inside the house, he is quick to love strangers who are introduced outdoors and who will play tug-of-war with him. His love of tug-of-war is very similar to his father, Anasha Murphy, who was as friendly and playful as a Labrador when I first met him. I was visiting Anne and Shaun in Denmark, and they proved to be as welcoming and friendly in real life as they had been via phone and e-mail. I stayed with them a whole weekend, and they showed me the famous Danish hospitality that brings so many Norwegian tourists to their shores. I met all their dogs, and they showed me the HD/AD x-rays of every one of them. They also stressed that, while their dogs were free of HD and AD, any large breed dog might develop such problems nonetheless. And they explained that this breed has a natural guarding instinct that owners must be prepared for from the start. How different this honesty was in comparison to other breeders I had talked to! It convinced me that they were the right breeders for me, and I have had no reason to regret that desision.

Anasha Jasper
Anasha Jasper
Having searched the web for a new breed of dog, we found the website of Anne and Shaun Ewing (Anasha Boerboels) We e.mailed them for information and found that Shaun had a litter that was due to be born in England in February 2003. We agreed to purchase a pup and Shaun kept in close contact giving us updates as to how Mollie (Mum) was doing. We first went to see the pups when they were two weeks old and with the help of Shaun we chose the only light colour one in the litter who also happened to be the largest. Six weeks later we collected Jasper and have never looked back. The Boerboel is a large dog and may not be for everybody, but from a small bundle of fur he has grown into a very gentle giant. He is very friendly towards people and also other dogs. He is very vocal towards strangers but accepts readily when needed. Shaun has kept in contact for updates on progress and our satisfaction with the breed since we had Jasper. We have decided to get a companion for Jasper and have returned to Anne and Shaun again as we know we will be getting a good quality dog through excellent mating.

Anasha Borrel
A couple of years ago a friend of mine was browsing the internet in search of a dogbreed that would be perfect for him. I was looking over his shoulder and he came upon a site about Boerboels, that was when I found the breed that was perfect for me. My girlfriend has always been scared of dogs, so are her parents. I thought that owning a Boerboel would be a good way of getting over that :-) It worked, just about every other race is a nice little doggie now! The great Dane we met the other day was a nice bloody big dog.

Only recently have we been in the position to own a dog and give it the time and attention it deserves. Living in Amsterdam, the Netherlands the logical start was in Holland for a breeder. Searching on the net we found a number of breeders here and in Belgium but also Anasha. We spent hours on end reading all the forums and gathering every bit of information we could find worldwide. We found a lot of sites and forums mentioning Anasha as a good Western European option but maybe more importantly, we started tracking replies of Anne and Shaun on forums and always thought that they were to the point and made sense. Of course there are more ways that lead to Rome in dogtraining and raising, but we felt comfortable with their point of view and methods.
End of the story is that we always came up with Anasha Boerboels as the number 1 option in Europe, in our opinion, to buy a Boerboel. So we set aside our problems with the distance and the inability to make a number of visits before deciding on a breeder.
Anasha BorrelWe made a downpayment as to get first choice, which was a bit scary seeing as you are sending quite a bit of money to people you've never seen before and don't live around the corner if they decide to ignore you from then on.
Obviously things worked out well!

We went over to make our choice and stayed in a hotel close by for two nights. Anne and Shaun made it obvious from the minute we arrived that we we're having diner at their place. (and lunch, and snacks and a drop or two of wine) We think that they really wanted that time with us, to decide if we were leaving with a puppy. We truly believe that if they had bad vibes that we wouldn't have. We had a real good time and a lot of laughs over there, they don't dislike company those two! Being able to spend hours and hours close to the puppies is no punishment either. Our feeling is that Anne and Shaun have a genuine love for what they are doing and are not making the choices because they lead to great piles of money, but DO lead to a better breed. Anasha's Boerboels don't come cheap but I'd like to encourage you to calculate their yearly takings and their yearly costs and I don't think you'd envy them. The simple fact is that Anasha is no factory so they don't have the luxury of selling in bulk. We as buyers do have the luxury of buying a dog that's the product of a well thought out breeding program and has parents who have great temperament and are in good health with the papers to proof it. Ask after those papers, it will not just make you feel better but Anne and Shaun too! Their aftersale service is great too, if you ever have a question about anything Boerboel related I'm sure you'll get a good answer from them. And if you don't ask something for sometime they will contact you to see everything is still going well. The fact that we know that Anne and Shaun are still genuinly interested in the development of their pups so that they not only have piece of mind but can also keep on improving their breeding, is yet another good reason to buy from them.

Our boy Anasha Borrel proofs to us every day that we made the right choice. We wanted a social dog that could be among a lot of people as we live in the city. Borrel is exactly that, he loves company and everyone is not only welcome, but also enthousiastically welcomed. Nevertheless when we walk him at night, nobody gets near us (which to Borrel is three blocks) without being told that they've been spotted and well advised to not pull any funny stuff. They listen. Also if we go somewhere and sit down for a couple of minutes, from then on that's our territory and he guards the perimeters. He's very obediant, reaching puberty though so we might swallow that in a couple of weeks, and loves our attention. Absolutely not dog agressive or any other animal for that matter. He's great with children, absolutely loves baby's and toddlers, to the extent that he systematically licks them from top to bottom. Sometimes a bit unfortunate if the parents aren't too charmed about it, but we still praise him every time. It takes some explaining to the parents but it's definately not behaviour we want to change, we have an extra family member coming up end of this year and it's not another Boerboel...Very easy learner. If you want to get a lot of satisfaction out of training a dog very well, don't get a Boerboel. It's too easy, they simply do what you want them to do. It's great to have a dog that is as stable as Borrel. If we pay attention, we can always predict his next move. The moment we realised that he would always protect us when the need would arise, is when Turner & Hooch was on television and Borrel sat between us and the television to make sure that whatever was barking couldn't get near us without dealing with him first!

We could turn this recommendation into a rather large book full of bragging about our dog and the great breeder we bought it from, but the bottomline is that we have a dog that has all the character traits a Boerboel should have and then some of his own. (like turning his back on us for a couple of minutes when he's not allowed something, absolutely hilarious every time!!!)
We wouldn't think of even looking somewhere else if we wanted another Boerboel, if it ain't broke don't fix it. If you want to be absolutely sure that your investment, which is not only money but also 11/12 years of your life, is a good one you'd be well advised to give Ansasha serious consideration before you make a choice.

Anasha Toska
Paul saw a picture of a Boerboel in a Rhodesian Ridgeback book and immediately wanted one. He searched for two years and finally saw some puppies advertised. We rushed to Wales, where Anasha had a litter, to look at the puppies and Paul chose a fawn bitch puppy which looked just like her grandmother's picture. Two weeks later she came home to stay and she quickly grew into a magnificent dog. She is soft and gentle with all of our family and friends and plays happily with other dogs. Our cat quickly taught her to respect indoor cats and she enjoys licking the cat when the cat will let her. However, when strangers appear she is quick to let us know and she stopped a man dead in his tracks by glaring and barking at him, when she was only eight months old. You could not find a better family guard dog.

Anasha ToskaWe went to visit the Anasha Kennel in Denmark and were impressed by the facilities for the dogs. All of the dogs were healthy and well cared for and Shaun explained the reasoning behind each of the mating pairings. The breeding programme is designed to breed ever better examples of the breed. You know that a puppy bought from them will be well bred genetically, healthy and brought up to be a happy, well balanced puppy. I would recommend anyone looking for a Boerboel to contact Anasha and hope they are able to buy a puppy from them .

Anasha Mr. Dalton
18th of april 2004

We have been asked if we would write a recommendation for Anasha Boerboels, we would like to very much.

Mr DaltonWe have known Anasha Boerboels since we got our first Boerboel in 2001. We are still impressed with the enormous work that they put into their breeding program. It is an effort that requires blood, sweat and tears, loads of tears when a good dog has to drop out because of a single fault, but we have seen it a lot of times.

They have a large kennel, but incredibly Anne and Shaun manage to take time for all their dogs, also to fuss over them and ensure that they are socialised. If any dog needs attention, everything else has to wait.

Something we think is very positive is that all pups are raised inside the house, actually in the living room and kitchen where there are people around them all the time. We have also noticed that the puppies spend a lot of time getting cuddles in the arms of Anne, Shaun and their guests. I do not think that anyone who has spent more than 20 minutes with Anasha can doubt the great love they have for their dogs.

This is why we have been completely comfortable with buying puppies from Anne and Shaun, we are awaiting our 4th Anasha dog now.

Anasha have also always been willing to share their large knowledge about the Boerboel with us when we have needed it. They have always taken the time to help with advice.

About their guarantee: We have only got praise for them. The guarantee they give on their dogs should be given by all breeders of dogs in this price class. But our experience with their guarantee exceeds any expectations.

Our first pup from Anasha was 18 months before we had her HD tested (then the guarantee only covered 1 year), she gave no indications of problems and we were only interested in knowing the results to see whether the hips were good enough to breed with, they were not. The vet evaluated them as “D” . I telephoned Anasha to tell them that I had to cancel the planned mating because the hips were not good enough.

They were sad about this of course, Anne asked what we were going to do with our female. I replied that we were very happy with the female so we want to get her sterilised and keep her as a pet as long as she did not suffer, then we would buy a new female for breeding with. Anne replied that in that case we could get a replacement dog, and we got her, Anasha Miss Dixie, I just thought that I would mention that Miss Dixies hips are amongst the best 20% of all PennHIP tested Boerboels and her elbows are 0-0.

Sabrina
Hello.
I have been interested in the boerboel for a long time.I got myself a female (not from Anasha) that was very beautiful and loyal, but we found out she had severe hip dysplasia. Because of it, she did not like other dogs, and did not really like strange people either..she was a big responsibility to own...
When she had to be put down i was heart- broken. I loved that dog so much and we had such a close bond between us.....

SabrinaThen, one day, I was asked by Anasha kennels if I was interested in an older boerboel female. They said it was a beautiful dog, that had no hip or elbow dysplasia. I said YES, right away.
1: cause I have heard so much good about Anasha kennels.
2: i did not want a new puppy, cause i was afraid it too would develop hip dysplasia when it got older.
I went with my little amstaff Irwin to take a look at the dog, that was called Sabrina. It was love at first sight!!! She was amazing! She was very good-looking, beautiful colour! She was not distrustful at all!!!, she liked me and Irwin too.!!!!!
She behaved more like a labrador than a boerboel.(laugh)!
We took her home the next day. She sleept in the car with her head in my lap all the way to her new home. She settled in right away. She is easy to take for a walk, she does not pull on the lead, she just loves to be patted on the head, often she puts up one of her paws and put it on my lap when she wants attention. She can lay on the floor, and just watch me. Whereever I go, she is there with me. But she can be left alone too if needed. She is not destructive. She also is a very smart dog!
Irwin has grown very much. Before Sabrina came into his life, he was a bit insecure. Not anymore!
He is now very confident, tail up and ears forward! He believes he is the king now!
He has a new girl friend and he loves her! Nobody will be allowed to mess with Sabrina when Irwin is with her!
Sabrina and Irwin loves to play together. They make a qute couple!

I could not have asked for a better dog! She fits into our home like a hand in a glove!
I really didn't think I would get that kind of bond between me and a new dog, that I had with my last bb female. I was WRONG! I love Sabrina very much!

Thanks Anne and Shaun, I promise I take really good care of Sabrina and send you lots of pics when I get my camera to work again. I will recommend you to those who wants a boerboel.

Kindest regards
Helena, Sabrina and Irwin
